Exporting or Converting Contour Data Points

Export data points from contours to a third party format that can be imported into another application, or export them as user layers, which can be modified using line annotation tools.

Following are the formats to which you can convert contour data:

  1. Using the main Ribbon toolbar, with the Contouring tab displayed, ensure the name of the contour layer to modify is displayed in the Select Contour Layer drop-down list, and then click DAT ().

The Save As dialog box appears.

  1. Navigate to the desired location, type a name for the file, and then click Save.
  1. Depending on whether you're working with user layers or contours, do one of the following using the main Ribbon toolbar:
  1. In the Export group of the Annotationsor Contouring tab, click DXF ().

The DXF Export Spatial Reference dialog box appears.

  1. Specify the spatial reference system, and then click OK.
  1. Using the main Ribbon toolbar, with the Contouring tab displayed, ensure the name of the contour layer to modify is displayed in the Select Contour Layer drop-down list, and then click
    Shapefile     ().

The Save As dialog box appears.

  1. Navigate to the desired location, type a name for the file, and then click Save.
  1. Using the main Ribbon toolbar, with the Contouring tab displayed, ensure the name of the contour layer to modify is displayed in the Select Contour Layer drop-down list, and then click User Layer ().
  2. A prompt appears where you select whether to attach the converted file to all present and future maps, or just to future maps.
  3. Using the Annotations tab, right-click a line from the converted contour, and from the context menu, select from standard line annotation functionality.
