IHS VirtuWell

IHS VirtuWell is a software package that enables you to model, analyze, and optimize flow in wellbores. It allows you to perform single and multiphase flow calculations for different wellbore geometries such as vertical, slant, horizontal, or complex configurations.

Note:    For a video-based explanation about IHS VirtuWell, watch our Training Videos (opens in a new window).

IHS VirtuWell uses the following analysis methods:

Advanced Forecast (IHS VirtuWell)

The Advanced Forecasting tool allows you to run multiple forecasts against an existing analytical model. The ability to compare forecasts is enhanced with detailed control over wellbore configurations, and an automatic display of liquid-loading problems for gas wells. Furthermore, a reservoir deliverability curve can be shown for any point in a forecast, providing an alternative to equation-based inflow performance relationships.

Gas AOF / TPC

The Gas AOF / TPC analysis method creates tubing performance curves (TPC) for a gas well, and overlays them on the sandface absolute open flow (AOF) curves.

Oil IPR / TPC

An Oil IPR / TPC analysis provides options to calculate and display the maximum oil rate and inflow performance relationship (IPR) for an oil well. It also provides the ability to create tubing performance curves (TPCs), which can be used to determine the expected operating point (intersection of the IPR and TPC curves) of a particular reservoir / wellbore combination.

Pressure Gradient

The Flowing Pressure Gradient analysis is intended for use when liquids (oil, and/or water) and gas are moving through the flow path specified in the wellbore configuration.
