Azure's recommended architecture is as follows.

Azure components are described below.

Cloud component Purpose
Azure VM – License Server A dedicated VM where the Gemalto License Service is installed.
Azure SQL An Azure SQL database to store the Harmony Enterprise database. The Azure SQL Managed Instance is not supported.
Azure Files Storage for FSLogix user profile containers
Windows Virtual Desktop A scalable host pool of dedicated VMs that provide a full Windows 10 desktop environment to users who connect via RDWeb to use Harmony Enterprise. In addition to Harmony Enterprise, each session host must have FSLogix installed to persist user profiles.
(Optional) Azure VM – Scheduled Importer If scheduling imports to Harmony Enterprise, there must be a dedicated VM with Harmony Enterprise installed. This VM is where the scheduled imports are performed.

License server setup

The Gemalto License Service must be running at all times to serve licenses to Harmony clients, so you need to install it on a dedicated VM that is not part of the WVD host pool and leave it on 24/7. Because the License Service consumes so few resources, you can choose a low-spec VM to run it on. We recommend the Azure VM size Standard_B1ms for this purpose.
