Adjusting gridding

After you set your reservoir and completion dimensions, Harmony Enterprise creates an appropriate grid for the model to get accurate results with minimal calculation time. The default gridding settings work well most of the time, but in some cases, you may want to adjust the gridding options by clicking the Options tab in the Numerical Model pane.

The figure below is a schematic of a model's grid for one quarter of a fracture stage.

  • The inner zone has geometric gridding. The smallest cell in the inner zone is the cell containing the wellbore. Its dimensions are given by ΔX Well and Min Yin. The geometric ratio for the x-dimensions of the grid cells is set by Ratio Xin and the geometric ratio for the y-dimensions of grid cells is set by Ratio Yin.
  • The outer zones have geometric gridding. The smallest cell in the outer zones have dimensions given by ΔX Well and Min YOut. The geometric ratio for the x-dimensions of grid cells is set by Ratio XOut and the geometric ratio for y-dimensions of grid cells is set by Ratio YOut.
  • The nCell field displays the total number of grid cells used to model one quarter of a fracture stage. This number is important because it directly affects the model's calculation time. This field is populated after you run your model calculations.
