Defaults
Clicking the Properties menu and selecting Defaults, opens the Default dialog box.
Erosional Velocity Constant - the value of the constant used in the erosional velocity equation. This constant can vary in value from 75 to 150, with 100 considered to be a good value for most cases. Erosional velocity is used to determine pipe sizing and thus flow velocity in order to avoid erosion damage.
Max Pipe Seg Division - used to calculate pressure loss within the model; each pipe is segmented into a default maximum 20 segments. The segmentation process is automatic, with no user intervention required.
Max Wellbore Seg DivisionM - the maximum wellbore segment division affects the level of segmentation of wellbores in pressure loss calculations. The segmentation process is automatic, with no user intervention required.
EOS Max Pipe Seg Division - the EOS maximum pipe segment division affects the level of segmentation of pipelines in pressure loss calculations. The segmentation process is automatic, with no user intervention required.
EOS Max Wellbore Seg Division - the EOS maximum wellbore segment division affects the level of segmentation of wellbores in pressure loss calculations. The segmentation process is automatic, with no user intervention required.
Load Factor - used to adjust reserves at the end of each forecast calculation period. For example, if a load factor of 80% is used, the system is on 80% of the time. The total cumulative production is then multiplied by 0.8 and the produced reserves are adjusted prior to forecasting for the next period.
Gasified Liquid Column Gradient - value used in the wellbore editor to calculate the total pressure drop when liquid columns form. This can vary between 0.2 psi / ft - 0.3 psi / ft, with the default set to 0.265 psi / ft.
Node Deliverability Pressure Increment - the default pressure intervals used when generating the Node Deliverability plot.
Default Units For New Files - metric or field units selection when working with new projects. The default is metric.
Default Pipe Units - magnitude of units to apply to pipe segments. The selections are ft / m, or miles / km. The default is ft / m. The units for the current project determine if field or metric is applied. For new files, the defaults units for new files determine if field or metric is applied.
Default Pump Units for new files - units selection for pumps when working with new projects. The selections are psi / kpa or Head (ft) / Head (m). The default is psi / kpa
Default Loop Link Selection Method - In building a model, Piper is set to automatically detect and assign loop links or allow manual entry of loop links. When Piper Selects Loop Link is used, the
icon on the GIS navigation toolbar is enabled. Using this function recalculates the loop links in the model and reassigns them if necessary.
Analytical Model Gap Production -
Constant Pressure Flow - The well is assumed to operate at a constant flowing pressure equal to that of the last historical production period flowing pressure.
Well is Shut-in - The well is assumed to be shut-in at the end of the last historical production period. A build-up occurs during the gap period until the start period of the Piper forecast.
Auto Save Defaults - settings for backing up Piper models while working on them.
- Enable Automatic Auto Saving - Enabled as default.
- File Folder Location - Path of where the file will be saved.
- Save File Every - Time of interval between saves.
- For Each File Keep - The maximum number of backup files to be saved. Resets counter once the maximum number is reached.
- Delete Files Older Than - Time to wait before automatically remove the file
Simple Composition - Sets the default gas gravity and composition (CO2, H2S, N2) for a simple conventional reservoir.
C7+ Detail Composition - Sets the composition for a detailed conventional reservoir consisting of :
Oil Gravity - a measure of the density of petroleum liquid is compared to the density of water (measured at 4°C). If its API gravity is greater than 10, it is lighter and floats on water; if less than 10, it is heavier and sinks. The default value is 50 API.
Water Gravity - the reference density of water. The default value is 1.0
Water Salinity - a measure of the salts dissolved in water. The default is 0 ppm.
Critical Velocity Correlation - the critical velocity required to lift liquids given the selected liquid lift correlation. The default can be overridden for individual wells in the wellbore descriptions or wellbore tuning editors. The default critical velocity correlation is Turner Water.
Default hemisphere for UTM Values - Sets the default hemisphere to north or south when using UTM coordinates.
Temperature Model Defaults - used in forecast calculations relating to liquid rich systems (oil or condensates). For more information see adding a temperature model.
- Default well site line Temperature - temperature default used for the simple profile type in the seasonal temperatures view. The default values is set to 4°C
- Default surrounding temperature (T¥) - used for links in determining the heat transfer coefficient. The default value is set to 4°C.
- Default Heat Transfer Coefficient - the rate that heat is transferred from the fluid in the pipe to the surrounding environment (0.026 W / (m2°C)
Units for Standard Conditions - metric or field for the standard unit values to apply. The default is metric
Metric Std Conditions - metric default values for temperature and pressure. The default values are 15 °C, and 101 kPa(a).
Field Std Conditions - field default values for temperature and pressure. The default values are 60°F, and 14.7 psi(a).
