Liquid Gradient (Gliq)

The liquid gradient is a measure of pressure per unit length (1 ft or 1 m) and is expressed in psi/ft or kPa/m. It can be measured during a static gradient test, or calculated from liquid density.

  • For water, the liquid gradient is typically 0.43 psi/ft or 10 kPa/m.
  • For oil, the liquid gradient is typically between 0.15 - 0.35 psi/ft or 4 - 8 kPa/m.
