WellTest Wizard: Specify Shut-in Points

This dialog box instructs you to ensure all flow and shut-in periods have been specified. Often, imported production data does not include the zero rate, which indicates the end of production. In these cases, the zero rate must be entered manually.

Properly identifying the shut-in point in pressure / rate history data is critical to a proper analysis. If the shut-in is not placed at the correct time, the analysis plots may not display as expected, and the data will be more difficult to analyze.

Data is segmented into flow and shut-in periods for filtering, and diagnostic analyses based on the location of the zero-rates in the production history. Also, the shut-in point is used to identify the final flowing pressure (pwfo), which is used to calculate total skin (s').
