Pattern Allocation Editor
With the Pattern Allocation Editor (located within the Editors pane), you can assign and to each well in a surveillance group. With this editor, you can also create multiple patterns to account for changing configurations over time.
Note: For multilayer wells, see Multilayer Wells: Pattern Allocation Editor Differences.
User Interface
The Pattern Allocation Editor consists of the following parts:
Configuration Pane
The Configuration pane opens on the left-side of the editor, and with it you can add or remove pattern configurations, and print configuration reports.
Note: A pattern configuration is the percentage you assign to a well that specifies how much of that well applies to the it belongs to. This only applies in the Allocation Editor when a given well is used in two or more patterns.
Pattern Allocation Pane
The Pattern Allocation pane displays surveillance groups and the wells they contain. Each row represents a well; each column, the well's loss or allocation factors.
The following conditions apply to the Pattern Allocation grid:
- Loss Factor — values must be between 0 and 1. The default value is 0, which means that 100% of the injected fluids support the flood effort. Loss factors are calculated using up to six decimal places, although only three decimal places are displayed.
- Allocation Factors — values must be between 0 and 1. The default value is 1, which means 100% of the well's production and injection data will be attributed to a pattern. Allocation factors are calculated using up to six decimal places, although only three decimal places are displayed.
- Total Allocation — the value is 1 for a well in a single pattern, or n for a well that is shared between n patterns (as shown in the fields with a red background). If the Total Allocation for a given well is below 0.999, the background in the well's Total Allocation field turns yellow to warn you that not all of the well's production is allocated. In this case, the pattern (block and field) containing the well will contain valid aggregated production data. If the Total Allocation for a given well exceeds 1.0, the background in the well's Total Allocation field turns red, and the production data for the pattern, block, and field containing this well is not calculated. A warning message is also displayed in the Status Window.
Multilayer Wells: Pattern Allocation Editor Differences
Single-layer wells vs multilayer wells are contrasted below:
- The Pattern Allocation Editor is available to Surveillance Groups that contain single-layer wells and/or multilayer wells, but it is not available to wells or layers themselves.
- Layout changes for multilayer wells: None
- Functionality changes for multilayer wells: None
