Entity Viewer
The Entity Viewer displays the entities in a project where you can view and organize them in groups. It consists of the following panes:
Clicking an entity in the Entity Viewer highlights the entity on the GIS map, and displays the entity's data under the other tabbed headings. Only well and meter station entities are shown on the GIS map, and only if they have valid location information entered in their attributes.
Double-clicking an entity in the Entity Viewer launches that entity for analysis. See Entity Viewer Tasks for additional information.
Note: You can select multiple entities by clicking wells while holding down the Ctrl key (to make individual selections), or the Shift key (to make group selections).
Work Status Icons
The Entity Viewer panes use icons to indicate the work status of entities. The icons and their meanings are as follows:
(Complete) — an analysis has been completed
for this entity.
(In Progress) — this entity has been launched,
and an analysis has been started, but has not been completed.
(Invalid) — data for this entity has changed,
or wells within this group have changed. If an analysis has been run,
it may no longer be valid.
Note: When an entity is first launched for analysis, its work status is set to In Progress. If you append data to an entity that has previously been analyzed, its work status is set to Invalid.
Hierarchy Pane
The Hierarchy pane organizes entities in a hierarchical structure according to specific attributes, which you can view in the Attributes tab. Note that the hierarchy structure does not apply to individual layers of a multilayer well entity. Default hierarchy groups include the following:
- Flat List — entities are listed in alphabetical order by Display Name.
- Field / Reservoir — entities are grouped by their Field > Reservoir attributes.
- Reserves — entities are grouped by their Country > Province / State > Property attributes.
- Fluid / Status — entities are grouped by their Fluid > Status attributes.
To change the attribute by which the hierarchy is structured, click the Attribute drop-down list, and select a new attribute.
See Hierarchy Pane Tasks for additional information.
Layer Entities
Layers for multilayer wells can only be created or deleted in the Hierarchy pane. Also, individual layers cannot be seen in the Custom pane or the Surveillance pane. See Adding a Layer Entity and Deleting Layer Entities from your Project for additional information.
Layer entities, once created, behave similarly to well entities, by having their own properties, production data (calculated), attributes, and analyses.
Note: Layer entities do not have their own Static Pressure Editor or their own Wellbore Editor.
A layer entity can be renamed in the same way that a well or group entity can be renamed. See Renaming Entities for details. And as layers belong to a well, Harmony does not permit grouping of layers. The only groups that can be created are groups of wells.
Custom Pane
From the Custom pane, you can group entities according to any attribute you prefer. (For example, you may want to create a group of high or low producers.) These groupings are flat (i.e., non-hierarchical). See Custom Pane Tasks for additional information.
Surveillance Pane
From the Entity Viewer - Surveillance pane, you can group wells for the purposes of production surveillance.
Note: See Surveillance Pane Tasks for additional information.
To display the Surveillance pane, click View, Toolbars and Docking Windows, Entity Viewer - Surveillance.
When empty of content, the Surveillance pane contains the following default hierarchy (known as a surveillance group):
- Field — a surface geographical point used as reference.
- Block — a logical grouping of wells that are geologically related (i.e., that represent an entire reservoir).
- Pattern — a user-preference-based grouping of wells that are hydraulically connected (i.e., belong to the same reservoir).
Note: Individual wells can belong to multiple patterns, but not multiple blocks.
