Using the Analytical Model

Once all the parameters are populated, the model can be calculated.

1. To calculate the sandface flowing pressure based on measured rate, click the CalcP icon ().

2. To calculate the rate based on given sandface flowing pressures, click the CalcR icon ().

If you click the CalcBoth icon (), both of the above calculations will be performed.

3. To have the model calculate automatically, and recalculate automatically every time you change model parameters, click the AutoCalc icon ().

If the AutoCalc icon () is deselected, you will need to click the Synthesize icon () every time you want to recalculate the model.

Adjusting the Analytical Model Dashboard Display

By default, the Analytical Model Dashboard displays model schematics and three plots with measured and calculated data. See Creating an Analytical Model for details.

To adjust this display (e.g., replace plots), click the Add an available view icon and select the appropriate plot from the drop-down list.

If you are modeling a well with one or multiple fractures, and expect the well to experience linear flow, we recommend that you display one of the Linear Specialized plots. Looking at the data on a Linear Specialized plot will help you identify which portion of production data represents the linear flow regime, and will help you match this portion of production data by adjusting components of the linear flow parameter (nf(xf)y√k).
