Creating Raster Cross Sections

You create cross sections that consist of raster logs the same way you create digital cross sections.

To create raster cross sections

1. Click new XSec () on the left toolbar.

2. Click to select wells to include in the cross section.

3. Double-click the last well.

If you've specified to use AccuLogs raster logs in the Global Online Axxses Settings dialog box, the Raster Zone of Interest dialog box appears and you specify your zone of interest.

The raster catalog appears for each well.

If the above dialog box does not appear, either there are no raster logs for the selected well, you are not entitled to the raster log, or AccuX is unable to communicate with the IHS Energy Information Hub.

4. Select one porosity log and one resistivity log; for example, Sonic Acoustic MP-240 main pass with a 1:240 depth scale and Dual Induction MP-239 main pass with a 1:239 depth scale, and then click OK.

Note: Selecting more than two logs can complicate cross section analysis because some logs overlap. You can add additional logs to your cross section later.

5. Drag the log width slider right to increase the log width.

6. From the Cross Sec menu, select Standard depth scale then a suitable vertical scale. The initial default scale is 1:240.

The cross section displays the GR, depth, and litho track. Select or clear track buttons in the standard toolbar to toggle tracks.

Logs are displayed as follows:

Porosity Logs. The left slice (typically GR and CALI) appears in the GR-SP track. The right slice (typically DT, RHOB, DPHI, NPHI, etc.) appears in the porosity track.

Resistivity Logs (1:120 – 1:<500). The left slice (typically SP and CALI) appears in the litho track. The right slice (typically ILM, ILD, LLS, LLD, etc.) typically appears in the logarithmic resistivity track.

Induction Logs (1:>500 – 1:1200). The left slice (typically SP and CALI) appears in the litho track. The right slice (typically part of conductivity from 500 – 0 msm) appears in the linear porosity track.

7. By default, the litho track for the cross section is 0.75". To display the SP track from the resistivity log, drag the log width slider all the way right to maximize the log width. From the Cross Sec menu, select Properties > common then type a value in the lithology column box and click the associated protected checkbox and then click OK.

When you create your next cross section, all the settings from the last active cross section are applied.
