Recalibrating Old Style Gamma Ray Logs

Some old style gamma ray lines may appear as lazy curves.

AccuX draws gamma rays using GAPI units. Old style gamma ray logs recorded using different units such as GAM, MCR/H, or CMPU don’t display correctly and you must change these using the Single Curve Managing dialog box.

Note: For some formations the gamma ray looks like a lazy curve not because the units are old, but because the actual variation of natural radiation is very small.

To recalibrate old style gamma ray logs

1. Hover your cursor over the curve until the tooltip appears.

2. Double-click the curve.

The Single Curve Managing dialog box appears.

3. In the Multiply by field, type 11.7 or 12 and then click OK. 11.7 – 12 is an approximate conversion.
