Spotfire

TIBCO Spotfire is an analytics tool that can connect with Harmony Enterprise.

Harmony Enterprise can connect to both Spotfire Desktop and Spotfire Analyst. If you happen to have both versions installed on your computer, Harmony Enterprise connects to whichever version you installed last. We support version 7.14 and 10.3 of Spotfire.

Note:    Marking data = highlighting it in Spotfire. In Spotfire, right-click a marked item (any row in the table or part on a visualization) and select Harmony Analytics, Create Private Group in Harmony. This moves the marked item to the Private Groups tab in the Entity Viewer - Custom.

First-time connection to a database

The first time you connect to a database, follow these steps. To connect to Harmony Enterprise, click the Tools menu and select Harmony Analytics, then:

- Select Harmony Data — opens the Data Source Selection dialog box. Click one of the tabs described below. After you are done, click the Connect button.

  • In the Recently Used tab, double-click a Data Source Name to open one of these connections. (These connections exist if you connected to a SQL server in the past.)
  • In the Connect to Server tab, type all the required information:

    • Server — the name of your SQL server.
    • Database Name — the name you assigned to your database.
    • User Name and Password — type the credentials for the database.
  • To use your Windows login, click the User Windows Authentication checkbox.
  • In the Data Source File tab, click Browse and navigate to your .dsn file.
  • In the Data Source List tab, select the database you want to use. To use the ODBC Data Source Administrator dialog box, click the Open Data Source Manager button.
  • In the HLDB tab, click Browse and navigate to your .hldb file (single-user Harmony file).
  • The Analytics connector opens.
  • In the Well Selection pane, select the specific data you want to bring into Harmony Enterprise by clicking the various tabs.

- Or, Reload Data — opens the Data Source Selection dialog box (see above). After you connect to a data source, you can refresh your data.
