Locking

In the multi-user environment, access to the analysis information of an entity is restricted / locked to one user at a time. Locking ensures that there is data integrity for the duration of time that an entity is being analyzed. This information that is locked for analysis is generally confined to any data belonging to the Analysis Tab.

The most common way to obtain a lock for an entity is to launch it for analysis. By doing so, you will continue to own the lock for that entity until you stop analyzing it.

To release the lock on an entity, launch a different entity for analysis, or close the Harmony project.

Multilayer Wells

Multilayer wells have a special parent / child locking arrangement. When you launch a multilayer well, you will obtain a lock for the well and all the layers. Similarly, launching a layer will obtain locks for that layer, its parent well, and its sibling layers.

Temporary Locks

Sometimes temporary locks will be obtained by automated processes. For example, applying a workflow to a selection of wells will briefly lock those wells, so that analyses can be applied to them, even though those wells are not being launched for analysis.
