IHS DeclinePlus

IHS DeclinePlus is a software package that enables you to perform traditional decline analyses. It uses the following analysis methods:

Custom

With this worksheet, you can create multiple analyses on different data streams, and assign these to groups.

Decline

Traditional Decline generates an Arps decline forecast of future production rates based on historical production data to determine EUR.

Stretched Exponential Decline is a variation of the traditional Arps method, but is better suited to unconventional reservoirs due to its bounded nature.

Duong Decline is an empirical method developed specifically for low permeability systems exhibiting long periods of transient flow.

Multi-Segment Decline generates a three-segment Arps decline where each segment can capture distinct flow regimes.

Forecast

This worksheet displays raw data for existing production forecasts in a tabular format. You can also forecast yields of one product based on an existing forecast with user-specified ratios including GOR, WOR, NGL-Gas Ratio, CGR, Propane-Gas Ratio, Butane-Gas Ratio, and WGR.

Material Balance

Gas Material Balance is a performance-based interpretation method used to determine original-gas-in-place (OGIP) based on production and static pressure data. It relates the original gas in the reservoir to the production volumes and current pressure conditions and fluid properties.

Oil Material Balance is a performance-based method used to interpret, analyze, and model static pressure and production data from oil reservoirs in order to determine pool groupings, OOIP, gas cap size, drive mechanisms, and theoretical recovery factor.

CBM Material Balance is a performance-based method used to analyze coalbed methane reservoir production volumes of gas and water, along with shut-in pressures to determine the OGIP.

Ratio Analysis

WOR (Water-Oil Ratio) is a performance-based method of trending future water production for the purpose of forecasting oil production, water production, and determining EUR. WOR forecasting is an empirical analysis method.

Oil Cut is an alternative ratio forecasting method to WOR. This analysis method is a straight-line forecast on oil cut vs. time and cannot provide an EUR estimate until linked to the total fluid rate.

Type Well

With this analysis method, you can create a traditional decline analysis for the average production of a group of wells. This analysis technique is useful to generate a forecast for a well that has little or no historical production.

Volumetrics

This analysis method is a technique used to estimate the original hydrocarbon fluid volume in a reservoir based on the properties of the reservoir rock along with limited knowledge of the fluid saturations.
