Probabilistic & Sensitivity Analyses
Probabilistic and sensitivity analyses are available with an IHS RTA or IHS CBM license.
Probabilistic Analysis
Probabilistic analysis operates by linking a probabilistic worksheet with an existing analytical model. Reservoir-specific data is read from the model, statistical information is entered on the probabilistic worksheet, and together this information is used to run a probabilistic simulation. One of these models must first be set up with valid parameters and a forecast in order to run a probabilistic analysis.
Currently, supported models include the Gas / Oil / Coalbed Methane (CBM) Horizontal Multifrac Composite (Tri-Linear), Gas / Oil / CBM Horizontal Multifrac Enhanced Fracture Region, Gas / Oil / CBM Multilayer Analytical Model (Vertical, Horizontal, Fracture, and Composite layers), and CBM Pseudo-steady State (PSS) model.
These items apply to the probabilistic analysis:
Sensitivity Analysis
Sensitivity analysis operates by linking a sensitivity worksheet with an analytical model. The analytical model receives input parameters from the sensitivity worksheet, and calculates the expected ultimate recoverable (EUR) and the original gas or oil in place. These values are then plotted on the sensitivity worksheet.
Note: Sensitivity analyses can only be performed on existing analytical models.
Currently supported models include the Oil / Gas / CBM Horizontal Multifrac Composite (Tri-Linear), Oil / Gas / CBM Horizontal Multifrac Enhanced Fracture Region, and CBM PSS models. One of these models must first be set up with valid parameters and a forecast, in order to run a sensitivity analysis.
